The Power of Love

We came to this plant farm to go to the office to fix some problems with their computer system. The farm   was huge and had all kinds of plants and grasses for sale.   It had its own water well and even an artificial lake that was used to water the grass and that way they kept  their grass  looking healthy. The farm had a huge house and what impressed me most about the house were its huge windows with nothing to keep mosquitoes and insects from entering. It reminded me of those big houses you see in a  European movie. Everything was huge. The kitchen, the dining room and the surroundings.

They had a section with trucks, cranes and all kinds of equipment and the business offices were there. Everything was far away from the house. The house looked neat and beautiful. It reminded me of the story of a boy who planted a bean seed and it grew towards the sky. The boy climbed up the bean seed and reached heaven. There he met a giant and his enormous house.

When we got to the office, my husband noticed a plant that looked like it had broken off from the main plant. It had some spikes that looked like war lances on each spike of the large plant, about 12 inches or so. It still had a ball of soil with some roots. We noticed that it was lying on the ground and no one had picked it up to perhaps replant it. There were so many plants that it looked like it had been left lying there like trash. We wanted to pick it up but we didn't dare ask for it and we left it there.   By the end of the day it had been stepped on several times and even the wheel of a truck had run over it. It looked like a beaten up person on the road waiting for the ambulance or death.

We took the equipment to our home workshop to fix the computer and then my husband, when everything was fine, would take it back to the farm office.   Several days went by and my husband went to deliver the equipment and he tells me that the first thing he saw was the plant, all run over.   It looked like the giant had chewed it up and then spat it out on the ground. He got out of the car and set everything up and when he got in the car he looked at the plant.   He imagined the plant asking for his help. That despite the fact that it was dying, it wanted to live.   He looked for the owner and asked him if he could take the plant and he looked at him like he was crazy since the plant was in serious condition.

He picked it up from the ground and arranged it as if it were an injured patient. When he got home, I was surprised to see this sad plant.   He told me jokingly how he heard the plant calling for help.   “Please pick me up from here. SAVE ME.” I laughed, as it was not the first time that his compassion took control of his actions.

The reaction of this plant was incredible.   It seems that my husband's touch, his words and his promise to plant it in the ground in a privileged place, made the plant react quickly and start to look better. It was as if the plant wanted to improve to please him. Every day that passed it became bigger and more beautiful.

If you come to my house in the yard you will see a huge plant that is almost 6 feet tall.   It has at least 50 spikes or more and they look like war swords. The force of love   and gratitude for having cared for it with so much love, the plant did its best to grow.   It is a spectacular plant when you look at it. Out of affection I named it the monster.   It is so huge that it seems to come from another planet. It reflects happiness and love for my husband who still talks to it and bathes it with his sleeve. He trims its spikes and tells it how beautiful it is.   He looks at it with pride and joy and it stretches out its spikes as if it wanted to hug him. It is beautiful and straight. The force of love is incredible if we could be like that with each other.
